There will changes to the Tauranga City Council opening hours and services over the Christmas period.

Tauranga City Council offices, including the customer service centre at 91 Willow Street will close for the holidays at midday on Thursday, December 24 2020 and re-open at 8am on Tuesday, January 5 2021.

Some services like rubbish and glass recycling collection, libraries, transfer stations, pools and sports centres will continue to be available, with some tweaks to opening hours.

Rubbish and glass collections.

A written statement issued by Tauranga City Council says there will be no rubbish or collection on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

'If your collection day is usually Friday, which applies to residents in Bellevue, Bethlehem (North), Brookfield, Bureta, Judea (North), Otumoetai, or Matua, your rubbish will be collected on the following Saturday instead.”

This applies to all collections, both council and private.

Transfer stations

Both transfer stations will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Te Maunga Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday, January 3 2021 due to the Bay Dreams event.

Tauranga transfer stations will be open 8am to 5pm on Boxing Day and the weekends in between Saturday, December 12 2020 - Sunday, February 7 2021.

Libraries

All Tauranga City Libraries are closed from noon Thursday, December 24 – Monday, December 28.

They will reopen as usual between December 29 - 31 and will reopen for 2021 on Tuesday, January 5.
