State Highway 25 in the Coromandel is now open under stop/go traffic management.
The highway was closed earlier this morning as firefighters battled a bush fire raging on either side of the road.
Waka Kotahi Transport Agency is now reporting that the road is open under stop/go traffic management.
Thames/Coromandel District Council says Fire and Emergency New Zealand advises that the fire now under control.
Meanwhile, there are reports of several power outages in the region.
Powerco is reporting that 645 properties are without power in the Opoutere suburb in Whanagamata.
A site investigation is underway into the cause and power is estimated to be back on around 2pm.
