Rain to clear for the North Island

Morning rain or showers are expected to clear for most western North Island regions today.

Showers are forecast to hang about Northland through till evening, says WeatherWatch.co.nz

"Rain about Hawke's Bay and Gisborne eases to showers this morning, any morning showers for Wellington/Wairarapa clear," says weather analyst Aaron Wilkinson.

"The South Island is mainly dry today due to a ridge of high pressure, any morning showers about Banks Peninsula northwards in the east clears."

Tomorrow should be dry for most of the North Island, says Aaron.

"Rain moves into the lower South Island and about South Westland on Wednesday.

"Rain pushes northwards overnight reaching to about Banks Peninsula. Mainly dry for the North Island, a light shower or two may move in to the west Taranaki southwards."
