Former Tauranga MP Winston Peters has not ruled out standing for Tauranga in the 2011 general election.
Winston commented in his first television interview since the 2008 election on TV One's Q+A programme, July 5, which centred around the controversial Foreshore and Seabed Act.
He confirmed during the interview he was still leader of the New Zealand First Party - and not riding into the sunset yet.
'I'll cross that bridge when I come to it,” Winston replied to questions about the 2011 election, the Foreshore and Seabed Act and the Treaty of Waitangi.
Winston said he and New Zealand First were dealt a ‘fowl blow' during the 2008 election campaign. He suggested those who voted for New Zealand First at the last election did not need to be reassured about the party's future.
'Those 95,000 know I have never been inconsistent on these issues when others have.
New Zealand First comes from things that matter, there are many people who will try to take up our policies,” says Winston.
