What's on today?

Each year, the winter stars of Matariki signal the arrival of the Maori New Year. This is being celebrated from June 21 to July 21. The theme for the Matariki 2020 programme is Nga Kura Huna: sharing important knowledge and prized learnings that would otherwise remain hidden. It's Week Two of the Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology Baywide Women's club rugby! Mount Maunganui and Rangiuru play at 1pm today as Mount host a triple header with their Premier and Development Men's teams at Blake Park.

In the Premier Development matches, Mount Maunganui plays Rangiuru at Blake Park, Judea plays Te Puke at Maharaia Winiata Park, Te Puna plays Rangataua at Maramatanga Park and Greerton Marist play Tauranga Sports at Greerton Park. All matches start at 1pm.

In the Premier Men's competition, Mount Maunganui play Rangiuru at Blake Park, Arataki take on Te Puke at Arataki Park, Te Puna place Rangataua at Maramatanga Park, and Greerton Marist play Tauranga Sports at Greerton Park. All four matches start at 2.45pm.

In the Senior Reserves, Greerton Marist play Katikati at Greerton Park at 1pm, Eastern Districts play Tauranga Sports at Paengaroa Domain at 1pm, and Te Puna play Papamoa at Maramatanga Park at 1.30pm.

Come and support more of our local teams as our Tauranga City AFC side takes on Waikato Unicol AFC today at 12.30pm while the Bay Relics take on Papamoa FC at 2.45pm. These matches will be held at Links Ave.

The Papamoa Rugby Club are hosting the Papamoa RIPPA Run About today at the Gordon Spratt Reserve from 10am – 12pm.

Join Retro America for their annual American Independence Day Cruise which leaves from 43 Portside Dr, Mount Maunganui at 11am and cruises through to Whakatane. There will be prizes for best dressed and lunch will be available at the Whakatane destination.

There is an Omokoroa Town Centre Information Day being held from 10am – 2pm at the Omokoroa Settlers Hall.

The Little Big Markets are at Coronation Park from 9am – 2pm with a range of street food and craft vendors.

Nearby at The Artery, a free workshop with Michelle Arnold will be running from 10am – 11am, where people and come and learn how to make paper mosaic murals.

Would you like a night of ballroom dancing? Come along to Dancer's Night with Stagetalk Band at the Mount RSA from 7pm – 10.30pm tonight and enjoy mainly ballroom and latin dancing with a little R&R and line dancing in the mix. Put on your dance shoes for a waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, jive, rumba, chacha, samba, rock n roll, and line dancing. Return on Sunday for rock ‘n roll with Stagetalk Band from 4.30pm – 7.30pm.
