Saying no to cannabis

Take Care of our children and the country will take care of itself.

Take Care of our children and we will empty our prisons.

Take Care of our children and stop drugs.

This is why we cannot ease up on our drug laws as drugs are destroying too many lives.

What a nonsense to suggest that taxation will help repair the damage done to young lives. Our relaxed approach already is destroying lives.

Kids who can't be bothered learning, who are dodging school; grown men and women who think that it is harmless, when it is a stupefying drug and if you smoke it you can consume far more alcohol because it interferes with one's nervous system.

Think of the young man, newly married, whose vehicle was pushed off the Mangatapu Bridge by a man returning home from work who was under the influence of cannabis.

We cannot liberalise the law when cannabis does so much damage. Our road fatalities are bad enough, but who wants to have a chemically rearranged brain driving towards one on our limited quality roads. Drivers have enough to worry about.

The young, defenceless policeman murdered this week for doing his job is an indictment on our society. No to Law reform of cannabis.

Take care of our children through drug education

This writer needs to refocus her drug agenda on hard drugs. Cannabis doesn't cause half the amount of harm to self or other compared to drugs like alcohol or meth. Great job in bringing emotion into the discussion and pushing irrelevant fears. Drug education, not enforcement through law and order is the way forward

...and that...is precisely why the writer has a firm opinion on voting 'NO' to this reform, which after all is the immediate topic here...no doubt alcohol and meth are major contributors to problems but they are here right here and right now....I suggest M Murray Benge is drawing attention to not giving creedence to yet more legalised mayhem and social problems which will come if this bill is passed, the others will always ( and should) remain 'work in progress'. 'Irrelevant fears'?...no..very relevant indeed, continued education and a firm grip on law enforcement is precisely what is required...

stop prohibition

Under cannabis prohibition, numbers have increased, lives have been ruined by the justice system when it should have been a health issue if it becomes one. Most people can use cannabis without any negative consequences. Has there ever been a fatal overdose of marijuana? Never.
