The developer of Mount Maunganui apartment complex Eleven Maunganui Road is back before the city council's hearings panel for the second time in a month.
The hearing on April 1 is about an application to open a ground floor cafe/restaurant and an adjacent retail shop to provide for residents and the public.
Opening hours for the cafe/restaurant are proposed to be 7am-10pm seven days. The retail business is proposed to be open 12 hours a day and be open seven days a week.
The café/restaurant and retail business in the residential ‘H' zone is a discretionary activity.
Parking for the cafe and retail businesses is to be shared with the parking set aside for apartment visitors.
There are 14 objectors, two in support and seven submissions from people who do not oppose the application, provided the cafe/restaurant is restricted to that and does not become a bar/nightclub. Other concerns were about ventilation, rubbish and hours of operation.
