Not very Christian

Our Mayor reportedly said at a formal Council meeting 'Councillor Dawn and Andrew need to stop posting the s##t they have over the last couple of weeks”.

It was suggested that the mayor and Councillor Hollis sit down and sort this out over a drink and the mayor reportedly responded with, in council chambers don't forget "I will never drink with f...ing climate change denying racist”.

Now if this report is in fact true, then for a start I personally demand that the Mayor resign today.

We can't have that kind of language used in council chambers anywhere in NZ. If anyone spoke that in the Beehive he would have been ordered out of the house forthwith, no ifs or buts.

An apology cannot take back what was said and to say ‘I snapped' just doesn't work. In such a position one should never snap, this is something I have never heard of before, not that I am saying it has never happened, simply that I am unaware of such disgraceful behavior by a Mayor.

A Mayor has to be a man/woman who can articulate respectfully and in a Christian city, behave in a Christian manner. The Mayor has to go as does Baldock who brutally said ‘If you cannot afford the rate rise downsize'. Such a statement shows the cold, hard cruelty of anyone who held such a view so he must go too.

Such a harsh statement aimed at elderly people who could be in financial difficulties or one of them in ill health and have already downsized is of the cruelest nature I have ever come across. Vacate your chairs gentlemen.
