Motocross revs up A&P show

Te Puke Showgrounds was abuzz with town and country folk on Saturday as the annual Te Puke A&P Show took place. A huge crowd turned out to the agricultural and pastoral show, with the new attraction of Encounter FX freestyle motocross stunt riders adding a new drawcard to the annual event.

Show secretary/treasurer Kim Cawte had many great comments from show attendees.
'Lots of people were saying it's the most fantastic show they'd been to,” says Kim.
'The motocross was really popular and the mini horse and dogs were so cute. Plus we had 80 trade spaces and those went really well. Some of the horse classes were down, but it wasn't too bad.
'We had most of our signs stolen the night before, but that didn't seem to matter. It was just a great day and the weather was brilliant.”
Other activities included horse events, Junior Miss and Master and Miss and Master Competitions, a miniature horse and dog show, pets corner, Highland dancing, and the Hargreaves Children's Competition for art and craft work and Lego and Kinex constructions. The Home Industries competition included local arts, crafts, vegetables, knitwear, crochet, needlework, fruit, baking, jams, preserves, paintings, photography and more.
The Young Farmers Tug of War, the NZ Contractors Association's Digger Competition and a demonstration by Te Puke Fire Brigade were also a hit with the crowd.
