Construction of the second shared crossing near the Otumoetai Road roundabout will start next week.

The west-bound lane beside the Otumoetai Health Centre from Wednesday March 4 will be closed for three weeks.

'People travelling from the city towards Bellevue along Ngatai Road will need to detour at the Otumoetai roundabout via Western Road, or, via Otumoetai Road and Sherwood Street,” says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

'People travelling in the opposite direction along Ngatai Road towards the city will not be affected.”

The lane closure will not affect access into and out of the health centre, or, to any of the residences along Ngatai Road.

Buses travelling from the city towards Bellevue will be following the detour through Western Road.

Construction of the two-way cycleway continues and requires lane diversions.

'Please drive carefully through the work sites and follow the signage. Be aware that traffic management activities along the corridor is changeable throughout the day.”

Work is expected to finish in April 2020.
