Strong farm sales

Farms are proving hot property in the Bay of Plenty compared to the rest of New Zealand with 26 of them sold in the region in the three months to the end of September.
This figure is from Real Estate Institute of New Zealand's latest statistics that also show the median price for a farm in the Bay was unchanged at $1million from the equivalent statistic in August.

The sale of 26 farms was equal most in the country with Northland. The next most farm sales was in Canterbury with 24 in the three months ending September.
In the period there were also 93 lifestyle blocks sold in the Bay at a median price of $440,000. This was approaching twice as many lifestyle block sales from the same time last year.
REINZ national president Peter McDonald is expecting the rural property market to pick up nationwide.
'Typically we would expect to see a pick up in the number of sales by October, November. It may be that this year we'll be running a few weeks behind that pattern.”
