Bay sales in top three

The Bay of Plenty has the third highest value of property sales in New Zealand in September, according to the latest figures from the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.
The figures also show the medium property price in September in the region has dropped marginally compared to August.

The medium price for the Bay of Plenty and Waikato region was $315,000, down from $317,000 in August, but up from $314,000 last year.
Property sales in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty totalled $332.7 million in September, behind Auckland and the Canterbury/ Westland region.
Newly elected REINZ president Peter McDonald says the figures indicate improved confidence of buyers and sellers in the marketplace.
'We're seeing a slow, but steady, appreciation in sale values and we're now back to the prices being fetched in the corresponding period in 2007 when the median was $351,500,” says Peter.
