Long-term planning vital

While the politicians' stuff around on the future of Auckland Port, they couldn't care less about the access problems for we people and the best export port in New Zealand here in Tauranga.

We have the superb Eastern Arterial which services our Port plus people, plus other centres, and freight rail use is increasing too, but that leaves SH 2 and SH29 both part of the golden triangle and they are in serious neglected trouble because no central politician seems to comprehend that SH2 and SH29 are vital and in absolute crappy condition while NZTA plays around with SH2 so called safety work, but only within the existing road corridor and they won't touch the bridges, the Katikati bypass, the Omokoroa interchange or the Northern Link.

What a tragic, pathetic predicament we are in.

A fabulous environment, people coming to live here in droves and a growing port. SH29 is the heavy truck route and those trucks are pouring over the Kaimais, but NZTA is not now helping with intersection upgrades so people can access the highway safely. It is a disgraceful state of affairs, instead of doing something about it and working together as we used to. Action please before any more of us suffer including the Port.
