More than 40 riders are set to complete a 4Hour Relay event run by the Tauranga RDA this weekend.

This is the second relay event held by them and is taking place on Saturday, November 30, at the Papamoa Pony Club grounds.

'This year we have 40 riders competing in the 4Hour Relay. For some of our riders, this is the first time they have had the opportunity to participate in events such as this and on grounds outside of the Tauranga RDA arena,” says Tauranga RDA manager Elisha Olds.

'It's incredibly exciting for all of us.”

Open to the public from 10am, there will be food on sale thanks to the Rapid Relief Team, an old-fashioned cake stall, provided by volunteers and coffee and other hot drinks from Vanessa from Peony Sky Coffee.

'And a special thank you to Farmer Auto Village, BayWave, Classic Flyers and The Cheesecake Shop who are providing a variety of prizes and spot prizes that will be given out throughout the day.”

Riders participating in the relay are now seeking sponsors, says Elisha.

'If you are interested in showing your support and want to sponsor a rider, simply contact Tauranga RDA on 07 544 1899 or email us at infor@taurangarda.co.nz.

'Everyone is welcome on the day so come down, dive into a coffee, enjoy some great food and try your luck with our raffles. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Tauranga RDA provides interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence and self-worth for children and adults with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges.

Programmes are therapy riding, education riding, sport and recreation, life skill programmes, equine-assisted growth and learning.
