More than 20 vehicles broken into in Thames

Thames police are calling for vigilance after more than 20 vehicles were broken into this weekend.

The break-ins were rampant in the township across Friday and Saturday night.

Police are asking locals to be alert, aware and report anything suspicious, Detective Mark Leathem says in a statement.

'Our team are actively working to identify those responsible, but we urge the public to come forward with any information that will help identify the group of individuals.”

Car owners can also minimise their risk by:

Taking your keys with you when you leave your vehicle.

Closing all windows, including sunroofs.

Locking your vehicle when you leave it.

Parking in well-lit areas if possible.

Trying not to leave valuables in your car, or keeping them out of sight. Thieves will break in for something as small as loose change.

Police can be contacted on phone number 105 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
