Drive to the conditions

Time and again I hear truckies complaining about the state of New Zealand roads.

While I agree with some of them, the saying "drive to the conditions" is what really applies.

I see truck and trailer units passing on the freeways over the legal limit, which is dangerous and holds up passing traffic.

The best truckies seem to be the ones who have to drive on pot holed country side roads because they have to take care and they know the road is dangerous.

Just because they are on a flat, tar sealed road, it doesn't mean they can speed.

That is how a lot of the local accidents happen. Careless driving which is not driving to the conditions. People are in too much of a hurry to get to their destination and some don't even get there.
