Flat Stanley is looking forward to an action-packed stay in Tauranga after receiving many suggestions as to where he should go while staying in the city.
He arrived in Tauranga on Wednesday and before leaving the airport he made a quick stop at Classic Flyers ahead of this weekend's airshow.
Flat Stanley was sideline at Tauranga Airport to watch a vintage jet aircraft start up and fly for the first time in four years.
A quick chat with staff there saw him accompanied by SunLive journalist Andrew Campbell out to the runway where he was present for the first flight in four years of a 1950s jet plane.
It was the British built Hawker Hunter and after four years of sitting quietly at the Classic Flyers museum its engine was started and taken up for a flight.
Tauranga is arguably best known for its beaches and so following the roaring start to his stay in the city Flat Stanley headed for Omanu Beach.
Flat Stanley is feeling a bit jet lagged today and is going to take it easy while he ponders all the suggestions made by the public about where he should go.

I loved Flat Stanley as a kid; he was one of my favorite characters!
Flat Stanley should probably visit Gate Pa, something uniquely Tauranga.
Shirley
Flat Stanley should visit The Elms Mission House in Tauranga. The Elms is an historical home lived in by members of the late Archdeacon Brow. It is the oldest house in Tauranga and contains a great many historical artifacts from the era of settlement in Tauranga dating from 1838.
Roger
Flat Stanley could visit Baypark especially this weekend when we have the Midget Invitation running here – the first midget race to run at the new Baypark which is well represented with 30 cars in this class alone.
Shirley
The Papamoa Hills Regional Park is a unique mix of pa sites, stands of native forest and farmland. It offers outstanding views over the Bay of Plenty coastline. The area is rich in Maori history and ancestral association.

I think Flat Stanley should go to the Tauranga Adventist School (Room 3) and see what Kiwi kids of that age are doing and the school they are at.

What a great idea. We'd take him to Kiate falls, mountain biking at summerhill, walking at Te Puna Quarry, kayaking at McLaren Falls up to the glow worms, to the TECT Park, to Kiwi 360 for a kiwifruit ice cream, to the rockpools at Maketu to go crab hunting.

Invite him to spend a week with TCC? He would go home full of praise for the best ever tragi-com he's ever seen, and even more flat at the thought of all those poor ratepayers.

I think Flat Stanley should go for a walk up the Mount.
Belinda
Blo-karting out to a kiwifruit farm, the beaches or out on the Rena.
Midge
Bush walks in the Kaimais.
Jenni
Send Flat Stanley to Katikati on Sunday evening 29th Jan for a Twilight garden concert with Suzanne Lynch and The ConRays. It's being held at the World Famous Haiku Pathway Reserve starting at 6pm. Flat Stanley could check out all the Haikus carved into the rocks!
Michelle
Yes definitely up the Mount – he may get a bit soggy surfing at the beach. The kids at Mount Primary would love a visit from him – they start back on 1 Feb
Shelley
Bring him to the Tauranga Farmers Market on Saturday and go to Tauranga Primary School.
