Aaron Bloomfield, the singer at No.1 The Strand this Thursday evening is a busy guy. Quite apart from a full schedule of gigs throughout the summer, Aaron spent the winter entertaining guests on the cruise ship MV Orion and is booked for more cruises this year. He is a regular entertainer at the Tauranga Business Awards and he sang at the Kate Sylvester fashion event in November 2009 to launch the new Peugeot 4007 SUV.
Aaron Bloomfield is the entertainer at No.1 on Thursday night.
For those who haven't heard him, Aaron is billed as ‘The Crooner' and his musical ‘thing' is predominantly swing. As well as his performances of songs made famous by the crooners of the 1940s and 50s, Aaron also recreates the sort of material produced by latter day swingers such as Michael Bublé and Jamie Cullum. But Aaron has also worked up a set that is based around swing versions of songs by artists not normally associated with the genre. It includes songs by such people as The Beatles, The Eagles and James Taylor.
On Sunday afternoon John Michaelz returns to No.1 The Strand with a surprise guest. John, who often appeared at No.1 during 2009 with Derrin Richards, is another of the local artists who is making an appearance at the Marchwood Blues picnic at Omokoroa on January 30.
John and his guest will play a set of blues, rock, gospel and original songs written by John starting at 3pm.
