Works planned for State Highway 2, near Bethlehem, are expected to be carried out tonight.

Core sample testing will be conducted in each lane of SH2, between Waihi and Bethlehem roads, says the NZTA.

NZTA is reporting that they will be carried out from 7pm and say they are night works only.

'One lane each direction will be available at all times.

'A 50km/h speed limit will be in place in place.”

The works are expected to be done and dusted by around 3am on Friday.
