The sun rose over Mount Maunganui beach this morning, making for a spectacular sight for dawn service goers.
People of all ages gathered at Marine Parade cenotaph to pay their respects and to remember the soldiers who fought at Gallipoli in World War One.
The service opened with members of the New Zealand Defence Force and a bagpipe player marching around the cenotaph.
The Mount Maunganui RSA President Bill Newell spoke at the service, commemorating the 104th anniversary of the RSA.

Anzac Day services taking place later this morning include the Memorial Park service at 8.30am in Tauranga, as well as a Civic Service at the Papamoa Memorial at 10.45am.
