Police received reports of a car on fire on SH29 close to Soldiers Road and Valley View Road, Lower Kaimai, around 7pm on Saturday.
The occupant was out of the vehicle and uninjured.
FENZ were also notified.
A motorist at the scene reported that a white Mazda Axela sedan car had overheated and caught fire.
