Digger cuts cable; causes network issues at TCC

UPDATED 6.59PM: Tauranga City Council says its network will be back up and running by the morning.

Tauranga City Council's fibre network was accidentally damaged.

A digger cut through the fibre cable on Cameron Road.

"Council contractors will work through the night to fix the problem. We expect our services will be restored by the morning, says Paul Davidson, Acting Chief Executive

"We want to ensure our community that we are doing everything we can to get our systems back up and running as soon as possible."

EARLIER:

The Tauranga City Council is apologising to members of the public as their network system has gone down.

"Our website is down and our emailing system is also down," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"We were live streaming during a council meeting and due to the issue it stopped working.

"People wanting to make an online transactions are unable to do so while the network is down.

The network went down at around 2.20pm and it is unknown when the services will be back up and running.
