Firefighters are currently battling a blaze in Mount Maunganui.
Crews have been called to Newton Street, where a scrub fire along the railway lines has broken out.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it is behind Supply Services LTD.
A Fire and Emergency northern communications spokesperson says three fire appliances are in attendance.
"It appears to be lots of small scrub fires along the railway track."

My thoughts on this, TCC tell us not to use SPRINKLERS,GOSH, thousands of litres used here, we have meters which we pay to use water and then put a BAN on us, do TCC charge KIWI RAIL for this water, me DONT TINK SO, just ,wondering.PLUS $128million in DEBT,. my gosh, Thankyou Sunlive, 10-4 out. phew.
