I could not help but feel a twinge of anti-religion whilst reading David Kidd's piece on the cannabis debate (The Weekend Sun, February 8).

Most of his argument revolves around mental health disorders as a result of cannabis use. While I don't know the facts of the scientific research into the side effects, I can tell you this - the Church has a lot to answer for when it comes to people's mental health.

Pretending there is a God and brainwashing people to give money, sing and worship a make believe being is hardly good for anyone's mental health.

Let's not get started on the abuse that's happened in certain churches which has led to mental health issues now shall we? While I appreciate you have a right to your opinion, let's call a spade a spade.
