Tauranga Council meetings to be live-streamed

The first meeting will start at 9am tomorrow.

The Tauranga City Council have announced they will start video-recording council and committee meetings starting at the Community and Culture Committee meeting tomorrow.

The meetings will be live streamed to the council's YouTube channel and the live video will also be viewable, when in session, at www.tauranga.govt.nz/livestream.

Mayor Greg Brownless says this will make council more easily accessible to the public.

'People won't need to come into chambers to listen to discussions, so it will be easier for members of our community to see the decision-making process as it happens.

'If people can't be in front of their screens when meetings are on, they'll be able to view the recordings later on.”

After the meeting, the recordings will be available for viewing on the council's YouTube channel. In time, this will replace the audio recordings council currently provides.

The video will show static views of the councillors, meeting chairs, senior staff and speakers. The cameras are angled to avoid filming the public in attendance as much as possible.

Meetings to be video-recorded:

Council.

Audit, Finance, Risk and Monitoring Committee.

City Transformation Committee.

Community and Culture Committee.

Economic Development and Investment Committee.

Environment Committee.

Transport Committee.

.......with your comments but I hope now that we have Marty looking at (and importantly acting on) the situation, just maybe things can change. And they DO have to....to much wastage, to little consultation with ratepayers (public)..and now (hopefully) that dodgy guy is out of the way, we can swiftly move onwards to some honesty and truth within TCC....hopefully.....
