Te Puna car fire suspected arson

Police have been called in to investigate a fire which destroyed a car in Te Puna.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Teihana Road, just over the railway lines from Te Puna Station, just after 8.30pm.

Crews spent around 43 minutes at the scene of the fire, making sure it didn't re-ignite once the blaze was out.

A police spokesperson says police were called by Fire and Emergency New Zealand to the scene of a car fire on Te Puna Station Road about 8.40pm.

“The fire is being treated as suspicious.

“Police are making enquiries.”
