Flames and black smoke could be seen in Te Puna last night as a fire razed a vehicle overnight.

Tauranga Fire Brigade was called to the blaze on Teihana Road just over the railway lines from Te Puna Station Road, just after 8.30pm.

Crews spent around 43 minutes at the scene of the fire, making sure it didn't re-ignite once the blaze was out.

Photos sent to SunLive shows flames engulfing the vehicle near farming equipment.
