D-day for NCEA results

Students across New Zealand will be waking up this morning keen to see what their results are for last year's NCEA exams.

New Zealand Qualifications Authority says the nerve-wracking moment shouldn't be hindered by any technical issues.

More than 165,000 students are expected to log on to the NZQA website to get their results today.

An NZQA spokeswoman says the authority's website is ready for the influx.

In the past, the NZQA website had had about 90,000 log-ons on results day.

Some students experienced delays in accessing results, which were usually down to internet connectivity or what kind of devices they were using, says the spokeswoman.

As in previous years, NZQA's call centre hours have been extended until 8pm, with an expanded team ready to answer students' and families' questions related to NCEA results.

About 1.3 million results booklets had been marked in the lead-up to January 15.

Breaking down the numbers per level, 57,000 students had taken part in NCEA level 1 exams, 52,000 in level 2 and 40,000 in level 3.

A further 25,000 students had completed internal assessments.

"I think some of them will be feeling excited, while others might be wondering if they've done the right prep," says the spokeswoman.
