With entries set to close at midnight this Thursday it's anyone's guess who will win this year's Trustpower Photographic Exhibition and get their share of the $10,000 in cash prizes.

Downtown Tauranga spokesperson Sally Cooke says the entries are rolling in and just like last year there's a diverse range of images and styles.

'The Trustpower Photographic Competition and exhibition has always been about showcasing creative talent and this year it is so exciting to see all the entries coming in from amateurs and professional photographer of all ages and stages. The judges will once again have a tough time choosing the winners.”

With the theme of ‘Finding Beauty', an open entry platform across New Zealand and the lure of cash prizes organisers are expecting record entries again this year.

'This is the third year we have run the competition and last year we saw a massive increase of entries

"This year we expecting the same, especially with the prize pool of $5000 cash for first, $3000 for second and $2000 for third place."

Sally says there's still time for everyone to find some pictures before the competition closes this Thursday at midnight.

'We get some people saying to us ‘Oh I'm not good enough to enter, I just take pictures in my spare time. I'm not professional and I don't have an expensive camera' Yet last year's winner was 8 year old Lulu Boorman, who took a selfie on her mobile phone! Pretty amazing stuff. Yes we get lots of professional photographers submitting their images too… but at the end of the day this competition is open to anyone and the judges will choose the winning 20 photos.”

The competition allows entrants to enter up to 10 shots.

'This is a fantastic way for people to submit a number of photos, because what you think is a winning photo might not be what the judges see, so by submitting up to 10 photos you increase your chances also.”

As well as the lure of the cash prizes all entrants also stand the chance of being showcased as one of the 20 finalists in the Trustpower Photographic Exhibition on the Strand from Anniversary Weekend.

'The exhibition allows us to celebrate the winners and create a dynamic and beautiful large scale outdoor exhibition on The Strand from late January for an 11 week season.
