Police have named the man who died in a crash on Te Puna Road, near Tauranga, early on Saturday morning.

He was 21-year-old Tarandeep Deol, of Tauranga.

A police spokesperson says police extend their sympathies to his family and friends.

Police are also appealing for information following the crash.
