Motorists travelling between Opotiki and Cape Runaway are being warned to expect delays for the next couple of weeks.

Contractors are resealing several sites along State Highway 35.

The NZ Transport Agency says resealing at multiple sites on SH35 between Opotiki and Whangaparaoa/Cape Runaway is currently planned for the two weeks, starting today.

The works are weather dependent and are expected to be completed around November 25.

"Stop/go traffic control will be in place during sealing works at each site. This will be followed by loose chip and 50km/h speed restrictions for about two days afterward to protect the new seal and allow the chip to properly embed.

"Please drive with care & allow extra time for your journey."
