Person reported to be trapped in SH2 crash

UPDATED 8.10AM: One person is reported to be trapped following a crash on State Highway 2, near Te Puna.

Emergency services were called about 7.30am.

A police spokesoerson says the crash is between a car and a truck on the highway, Ainsworth Rd and Te Puna Quarry Rd.

"There are reports of person or persons trapped in a vehicle. Injuries are unclear at this stage.

"Ambulance has been called."

EARLIER:

Reports are coming in of a crash on State Highway 2 this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there has been a crash on the highway, near Ainsworth Road.

"It looks like a truck is involved and car has gone down a bank."

Emergency services have been called to the scene.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays.
