Remedial work to begin on Takitimu Drive

Remedial work to repair a weather-damaged pathway on Takitimu Drive is expected to begin on Monday.

The NZ Transport Agency advises remedial work will start on the Waikareao Estuary side of the Takitimu Drive pathway, between the stockpile area (opposite Graham Park) and the first pedestrian overbridge.

"Wet weather has damaged this section of the finished pathway and caused the surface to become uneven, so remedial work is being carried out to level the pathway in the affected areas and to add a new surface layer to provide a smoother and more even finish," says the NZTA.

"Work is scheduled between the hours of 7am – 5pm, and is expected to be completed by 16 November 2018. This is weather dependant."

The state highway shoulder will be closed, however, pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross SH2 at 11th Avenue to access the cycle path on the Cameron Road side of SH2, or use two over bridges to access the inland pathway and the town centre. Cyclists may also use the highway to commute.

"The NZ Transport Agency thanks motorists and shared pedestrian/cycleway users for their patience during this time."
