Western Bay of Plenty District Council will flush all of its water mains over the two week period from October 23 to November 6.
The annual procedure of flushing water mains reticulation is part of the council's maintenance programme to ensure the highest standard of water quality for customers.
A Western Bay of Plenty Council spokesperson says the precautionary flush removes any residues that many have inadvertently accumulated inside the water pipes.
'These flushing activities many create temporary flows of water down kerbs and channels and may cause a temporary discolouration of tap water. The water is safe for human consumption.”
'If you find any discolouration at your home, please run an outside tap for five to 10 minutes until the water clears. This will flush all internal plumbing.”
The programme will take place in:
Western Zone: Waihi Beach, Bowentown, Pios Shores and Athenree.
Katikati: Ongare Point, Kauri Point, Tanners Point, Katikati and Fairview Resort.
Central Zone: Omokoroa, Te Puna, Minden, Whakamarama and Wairoa.
Eastern Zone: Te Puke, Pongakawa, Maketu, Pukehina Beach, Paengaroa and Rangiuru.
