American musician and surfer Donavon Frankenreiter is playing his way to the Mount.

Playing an R18 concert on November 28 2018 at Totara Street in Mount Maunganui.

Donavon says the he can't wait to be heading back to New Zealand to play some shows.

'It's going to be wonderful to be back down there playing. I first came to New Zealand about 15 years ago so I've been down there like 20 times for surfing and music and different trips, but it's been awhile since we've been down there playing music.

'I asked my agent, we've got to get this record and tour down to New Zealand and we also got the chance to go to Australia, so it all came together. We are going to be doing 5 shows in Australia and 5 shows in New Zealand, it's going to be great.”

'I really do love New Zealand. I've travelled all throughout the North Island and South Island and I've surfed everywhere, toured everywhere and it is a really special place for us. And on this tour we are hitting some of the major markets and we are also doing shows in the smaller towns, which I am excited about.”

Donavon Frankenreiter has released nine albums and is planning on playing songs from all of those during his hour and a half set. He also says that they will also be playing requests from the audience.

'I usually play acoustic guitar, but I'm going to be playing the electric guitar the whole time. I've got a great drummer that sings, a bass player that sings, so we'll just choose songs from all the different records, and them if somebody yells something out and we remember it, we will play it,” says Donavon.

'It's going to be good to get back out on the market and play the songs that the fans are familiar with and some that they have never heard. It's funny, sometimes we haven't played a song in five years, I don't even remember it, so it's like ahh another one please.”

Donavon's set is going to be a very relaxed, chilled-out set.

'We are just bringing our musical gear and we are just going to play and see what happens.”

Fans also have the opportunity to have a meet and great and to attend sound check.

'We are going to hang out and do meet and greets and just talk. The fans will be able to hang around during sound check and they will really get to hear whatever songs they want to hear. It will be more of a personal experience.

'It'll be really nice. It'll be an opportunity to ask me whatever of if they happen to have a favourite song they want us to play at sound check, we can do that too. It is a way to meet your fans in a different way.”

'We are just really looking forward to it, my whole family is coming down and we are going to surf and just enjoy New Zealand and what it has to offer.”

Donavon Frankenreiter will be playing at 11 Totara Street, Mount Maunganui, on November 28 from 8pm.
