Community event backing Golden Sands School

One of Papamoa's favourite community events is returning for another year, promising an even bigger and better day for the whole family.

The Golden Sands School Fun Run, Walk and Festival is returning for its third year on Saturday, November 10.

The event is aiming to raise funds for a new playground at the ever-increasing primary school.

Principal Melanie Taylor says the day is a good chance for the community to support the school.

'The original playground was developed for 80 pupils when the school opened,” says Melanie. 'Today, the school has 620 children, and we now need a new playground.

'The Golden Sands Fun Run is a wonderful opportunity to welcome everyone to our school for a great day out. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

Event director Lesley Park says the event is even bigger than last year, with hundreds of spot prizes and generous race packs on offer - many of which have been donated by local businesses.

'This is a huge community event, where more than 1000 participants come to run, walk and have a great deal of fun,” says Lesley.

'We're excited to be hosting this major event in Papamoa's calendar and to fundraise for a beautiful new playground.

'Once again many local businesses have come on board to support us, including Golden Sands Development, Next Door Realty, Bay Civil, 4 Square Papamoa and S & L Consultants.”

The event includes a 5km course beginning at 10am, and a 10km course beginning at 8.45am.

Both courses stretch alongside the Papamoa east water ways and around the Golden Sands Development.

The 2018 Golden Sands School Fun Run and Walk is at Golden Sands School on Saturday, November 10, from 8.30am. Entry forms are available via: www.gssfunrun.co.nz

Every entrant gets a race pack, a personalised race number and a finisher's medal.

The event will also feature the Golden Sands Festival, including food stalls, games, entertainment and live music at the school.
