Joseph Thomas aka Mr T, has recently gone through a transformation.
On Monday August 20, Joseph shaved off all of his hair raising money for CanTeen.
Nicknamed one of the ‘hairiest' members of the teaching staff at Pongakawa School, Joseph shaved off his long locks and beard, all to raise money and awareness for the work of CanTeen.
'There are a lot of us who have seen or experienced cancer and its extreme effects on people's lives,” says Joseph.
'Giving up my long locks and raising awareness within our school is just a small part in helping CanTeen assist our youth in a time of great need.”
Pongakawa School celebrated the initiative by having a crazy hair day for the students, while Joseph got his hair shaved off in front of the whole school assembly.
Pak n Save Papamoa also supported Mr T by donating sausages, bread and drink.
'Joe's commitment to raise fund for CanTeen is something the school's student leadership team have been happy to embrace,” says Deputy Principal Mike Judd.
'A number of local families are affected by cancer currently and for some it is extremely challenging and emotional time right now.”
The school roughly raised $700 for CanTeen and Mr T's everydayhero page has reached $2237.17 in donations.
Donations for Mr T is still open and you can donate via https://give.everydayhero.com/nz/mr-t-s-fun-razor.
