Tauranga locals Dyson Delahunty and Ben Thomasen traveled to Nelson to take on the 700km two-day endure race.

Both Delahunty and Thomasen race in the ORANZ (Off-road Racing Association of New Zealand) S class, competing in turbo Polaris RZR's.

Racing on day one was cut short due to thick heavy fog, making visibility limited. After completing eight laps, Delahunty was sitting comfortably in sixth place overall and Thomasen was sitting in first.

Day two was a different story, with Delahunty crashing out shortly after completing his first lap with him walking away with 27th overall and sixth in class.

Thomasen ended up in 14th overall and fourth place in class for the weekend, after he blew a belt and a couple laps later lost steering.

The next event for the boys are the NZ Short Course Champs held in Palmerston North on the August 18.
