Dealing with debt – savings focus

SunLive's opinion poll asking readers to vote for what issue is the most important one for them at this election reveals addressing the credit crunch is the main concern.

New Zealand's credit rating was downgraded to AA from AA+ by Standard & Poor's and rating agency Fitch on September 29.

Labour's finance spokesperson David Cunliffe says the public is right to be concerned about the credit crunch and speaks on camera to SunLive about it.

Labour had it's chance...

...and blew it with spending. Our children have been made debt slaves BECAUSE of the vote-buying bribery of Labour's socialist delusion of unsustainable welfare. National is not much better; they just spend it on their bankster and corporate buddies. NZ has to deal with debt incurred by irresponsible governments, red or blue doesn't make a difference. Parasitic governance is killing its host. But that's what you get with democracy, which in reality is a bribe-ocracy. The way out? MERIT-ocracy! Google it.

Wasteful spending

Alot of money goes to Maori education and awarness, which is a waste of time judging by the amount of Maori in prison. Maori make up 10% of New Zealanders however 90% of people in NZ prison's are Maori. More white people in NZ speak Maori than the Maori do. Educations grants - Maori's get more than white people, why is this. We need to stop wasing money on people who don't want to help themselves. I'm not going vote untill a party is focusing on equal rights for all. None of this Maori only schools, clubs, help networks, etc Image if we opened a school for white people only, would we get lots on $$ thrown at us, NO we'll be accused of being rasicts. Lets stop wasting money on Maori rubbish and remember it was never ever there land in the first place, they stole it of someone else and then ate them so they couldn't fight for it back.

except national (or should I say Labour lite) are NO better. They are more of the same. Theft, threats and bribery. @yakYak: You are simply getting what you give your permission for by voting for any of the political parties that advocate taking your money (tax) and spending how they think the MAJORITY want it spent. Do yourself a favour - dont vote for them, and then you are not part of the problem. If government did not take your money to pay for the government run education system, schools would be funded by the people who chose to send their children there. That way there would be Maori schools, indian schools, religious schools, sports schools, arts schools etc. By voting for these immoral parties you are condoning, and being forced to pay for the one-size fits all system in which NOBODY gets what they really want - and then complain about it.

TAKING THE MONEY

@ TOMMAHAWK KID, it is worse than that: they change the rules as soon as voted in, they make deals that more or less mean "I will do anything for the money and the power controls ...". Then self congrats for a wonderful job done. @ Speakup, on the money mate. Whatever level you look at local or NZ government they are all parasitic in nature. They dont care about the majority as it is silent, they only care about the noise small groups that for example like "PC" crap.

Its not so much that they change the rules, It is that their policies are all based on FEELINGS or what they think the majority want. And each and every person (including politicians) have individual feelings, so that is why it appears their policies change like the wind. If their policies were based on a set of PRINCIPLES that were NOT to be compromised (the only party that works on this philosophy is LIBERTARIANZ) then voters would know EXACTLY what they were voting on and for. National have a set of core principles, but they BREAK every single one of them, and I bet NONE of their politicians could recite their parties principles. This is why they are known for flip flopping! This is the perfect recipe for disaster, and guarantees people become disgruntled (or think they change the rules) LIBERTZRIANZ have a set of principles they NEVER compromise, and that is why you know EXACTLY what their policies would be on EVERY topic EVERY TIME
