Students heat up the classroom

A group of 22 Chilean students are being hosted at Otumoetai College as part of a cultural exchange programme with Colegio Asuncion in Rengo, Chile.

Rengo is located about an hour and half south of Santiago.

OTC publicity officer Erin Armstrong says the students are aged 15-18-years-old and were welcomed to Otumoetai College with a Powhiri.

'They are spending their two week visit attending classes with their host students. 'Part of the funding for their trip was provided by the Chilean Education Department.”

Erin says the cultural exchange between the schools is to encourage and provide knowledge of the history of both countries along with their current events and every day customs.

'In April 2012 a group of 20 Otumoetai College students will be going on an exchange trip to spend two weeks in Rengo attending the college of their fellow exchange students.”
