Police armed offenders squad members have been deployed to Rangiuru after a group of workers was confronted by a man carrying a firearm.

The incident took place about 11.40am today. Police are searching for the man believed to be involved and AOS has been deployed as a precaution, says a police spokeswoman.

'Police are working to locate the individual involved and do not want the public to be alarmed,” says the spokeswoman.

'There is not believed to be risk to the public and enquiries are ongoing to speak to everyone involved.”
