Tauranga shoppers get ‘flashed’

Today’s Flash Mob. Video by Bruce Barnard.

Age has proven to be no match for more than a dozen retirees from Bob Owens Retirement Village.

The retirees, who range in age from 72 to 92, surprised Bayfair shoppers when they performed a flash mob at the shopping centre this morning.

The flash mob group members have been practising the routine for weeks in advance.

Flash mob co-ordinator Sarah Nichols says the group all regularly take part in Ryman Healthcare's in-house exercise programme, Triple A, which stands for Ageless, Active and Aware.

'The programme is specially designed to be adapted for all levels of ability and residents who participate have reported significant gains in their overall health and wellbeing.”

Today's performance was witnessed by many of the groups' family members, as well as staff from the village and members of public.
