Hundreds turned out for the Anzac Day Civic Memorial Service, held at the cenotaph in Memorial Park from 9am.
Tauranga Brass Inc and the Tauranga Civic Choir provided the musical accompaniment to the service, while New Zealand Cadet Forces supplied the cenotaph guard.
Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout led the Tauranga City Council delegation to the event, which included wreath laying.
