A public meeting to discuss the issue of beggars in Greerton is being hosted this afternoon.

The meeting has been arranged by Te Tuinga Whanau CEO, Tommy Wilson.

'We need to find a community solution,” he says. 'We need to get past the war stories and into some solutions.

'Today's meeting will have local MPs, city councillors, community members and Greerton retailers – they are the ones that are affected, their businesses are being impacted by this.”

Tommy says what needs to be addressed is the deeply-rooted issues.

'Homelessness and addiction come as one. We need to find out what is the problem and what can fix it.”

He invites all Greerton retailers and the community to come along to find a solution.

The meeting is being hosted outside the Greerton Library from 12pm-1pm.
