What’s On? Vintage Machines & Records

Good morning, SunLive readers, and welcome to Sunday.

It's been a week since daylight savings ended, so you should all be used to your new sleep pattern and the joy of getting up after dawn (if you're lucky).

Today's forecast is for cloudy periods with a few showers, and a high of 21 degrees. It looks like next week there could be a cold snap, so make the most of the warm weather while it lasts.

Out near Katikati we have the Tauranga Vintage Machinery Club's Crank Up Day at 170 Hot Springs Road. From 10am members of the public can check out some of club's old engines and farm machinery, some of which is more than 100 years old.

One of the attractions will be a tug of war against a small tractor, when people power is put to the test.

'One man can pull the equivalent of four horse power,” says club vice-president Eric Green. 'So we want some guys to try pulling against a tractor in gear, driving the other way. There'll be a bit of experimenting to see how many people are needed.”

Meanwhile, music lovers will want to check out the Mount Record Fair at Totara Street today. From 11am people will be able to browse the records on offer, and maybe find the elusive one that's missing from their collection.
