Woman flown to Waikato hospital

A woman has been flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition following a crash near Matamata on Friday morning.

The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched at 10am on Friday to the scene of the crash.

'This was a car versus truck accident,” says a spokesperson.

'The 27-year-old driver of the vehicle had to be cut free from the wreckage by Fire Emergency NZ.

'She was stablised by paramedics at the scene before being flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.”

The crash happened on the SH27 and SH29 intersection, near Te Poi.

Three others were reported to be injured at the time, ranging from serious to minor injuries.

"The vehicle contained 2 two adults and 3 children, who all received injuries," says a Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter spokesperson.

"A 3-year-old boy sustained serious injuires and was flown to Waikato Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

The road was also closed for a time.
