Piloga & Jazz

Good morning Sunners and welcome to Good Friday!

Most of us will agree Fridays are already pretty good on a normal week, but for many of us, this Friday is even beter as it marks the first of a four day weekend spent with family, relaxing or on those quick getaways.

For those of us who chose to stay in the Bay for the long weekend, or even for those of are visitors (welcome!), you can be rest assured there is no end to the great range of activities happening around the city for you to choose from.

Why not start your morning with a nice wind down - especially if you've had to travel on busy roads to get here - by attending a Piloga class.

Held at Arataki Community Centre, the class offers the perfect mix of pilates and yoga and is a great way to help combat the guilt you might feel a bit later on this weekend after one too many bites of chocolate.

And don't forget the 56th National Jazz Festival is on, so it's a great weekend to be in the city, which is set to buzz with the smooth sounds of jazz.

Today's lineup includes Melbourne's very own Shirazz, a six-piece band specialising in classic hot jazz of the 20s and 30s playing classic trad jazz as it was meant to be played.

So grab a friend and head along to Baycourt, they will be playing from 6pm.

Following on from them is the incredible Dr Fox. Legendary bassist Dewayne Pate teams up with saxophonist Dave Wilson and Dr Rodger Fox and the NZSM Big Band for a concert that will blow your socks off.

They'll take the stage from 8pm and are sure to bring you a concert to remember.

For more information on either act, or any other details including ticketting visit the official event website.

There's plenty more activities too, take a look at what's on offer below.
