Motorists are warned of a crash at the intersection of SH29 and SH1 at Lake Karapiro.
The crash happened at around 3.30pm. One person was trapped in their vehicle and had to be freed by fire fighters.
Details of the numbers of people in the vehicles and whether they have injuries are not yet available.
Drivers are warned to expect delays and to follow the instruction of emergency service at the scene.

I hope the injured are OK. The thing is that cars rip along that road, coming from Tirau towards Hamilton. I have pulled out from that Give Way sign, without a car in sight, then had a car right on my tail that has come around that bend from the Tirau side.

when you come off st hwy 29 to turn right use the slip lane to enter st hwy 1 to build up speed. i have seen so many vehicles go straight over into the through lane

These 2 Capt Kaveman and By dumbkof2 gosh ive been going in and out of that road for yrs in the Truck, there is nothing wrong with it, could you please both tell me if you drive a Truck, that intersection has been there for 40yrs, its only CLASS CLOWNS who cause these things to happen there, if you stop and look both ways its not a problem, in the Truck you can glide up and if NO one is coming you can still get a run at it,there is plenty of room turning right to Cambridge to get over to the left and let traffic go by, every time something happens its always the rd, by CRIKEY im sick of it, like TGA to Kati kati nothing wrong with it,my truck was speed limited to 90, which is a CURSE sometimes, Sunlive Thankyou. 10-4. out,phew.
