The money was raised as part of the Tauranga Police CIB Charity Luncheon held in September.

'I had such trouble writing the cheque last night. I've never had to write a $100,000 cheque before,” says Pete.

ImpacTauranga is a community-based organisation which works with troubled youths and provides education for students who have been kicked out of mainstream schools.

ImpacTauranga's three main branches:

Arndt House – Residential Home supporting youth aged 12-17 years, who need timeout, care and protection and a safe place to live. Every year up to 20 young people live at Arndt House from between one week to two years. Plans and goals are put into place to bring resolution and reconciliation with their families.

Tauranga Youth Academy – TYA is an alternative education provider supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream schooling for many reasons. TYA gives young people a ‘second chance' at education through a caring and supportive environment. Every year over 50 young people would transition through our school.

ImpacCounselling – ImpacCounselling currently has three counsellors available to provide support to those in need in our environment and the wider community.

ImpacTauranga is just one of three main recipients, Tauranga Riding for the Disabled also received $100,000 and a youth group in Christchurch also received a donation.
