Equal opportunity vandals destroyed elections signs in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui overnight in a rampage that took no political prisoners.
Tauranga electorate Labour candidate Deborah Matua Coyle lost several signs.
Damaged signs at Memorial Park.
'I think there was a bit of a run over the weekend, someone's come around and smacked them all down by the looks of things,” says Deborah.
'Everybody lost them on Cameron Road down by the racecourse, and I think there were signs in the Mount went down as well.
'There's a team out and they are putting up signs and we will fix them this morning.”
Tauranga MP Simon Bridges also lost a sign in the strike on the Fraser Street and 11th Avenue Corner.
'It hasn't been too bad, people are probably focused on rugby and Rena that means to some extent it's a politics free zone,” says Simon.
'It's still important people see the signs and we are not complacent about the general election.”
The National Party has signs teams in different areas of the city which are this morning addressing the damage.
'The signs are surprisingly durable and it's remarkable what a bit of turps can do.”
The general election is on November 26.

Why not put a bullseye on them to really give me some fun? Really, they should be banned altogether as it just entices someone who might otherwise not be a vandal, to become one. Hell, everytime I go past the one with Dr Evil and Mini Me on it I want to take my shotgun to it. Yee arr.

I would suggest Dumb and Dumber would be more appropriate.
